Alberto Chiesi was born in Parma on December 26, 1938. Married, he has two children. He graduated from the University of Parma with a degree in Pharmacy in the academic year 1960/61 and in Chemistry in the academic year 1962/63. From 1985 until July 2023, he held the position of President of Chiesi Farmaceutici S.p.A. The company now has over 6,500 employees in 31 countries, with a primary focus on biomedical research, which accounts for more than 21.4% of its turnover. Since 2001, he has been the Coordinator of the Group of medium and large-sized Italian companies in Farmindustria, and since 2005, he has been a member of its Executive Committee. For his entrepreneurial activity and commitment to Research and Development, he was awarded the title of "Cavaliere del Lavoro" by the President of the Italian Republic in 1993. In 2015, together with his brother Paolo, he received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Healthcare and Life Sciences sector.
