Ethics and Transparency

As a biopharmaceutical company, Chiesi is part of a large and diverse ecosystem that draws on the wider talents and skills, of both our people and the scientific community, to best serve our patients.

We embed the highest level of respect, transparency, and ethical behaviour as a foundation of all our interactions with our patients and customers. We expect suppliers and partners to respect these values, too.

Our ethical principles are integrated in our business through a set of compliance policies and procedures.

SpeakUp&BeHeard

We have established a confidential reporting system – SpeakUp&BeHeard - to allow any employees to anonymously report potentially unfair, illicit behaviour, or occurrences that could potentially damage Chiesi’s business or reputation. Reporting is done through a web-based platform, independent of Chiesi’s IT system.

Group Anti-Bribery Policy

We have adopted a Group Anti-Bribery Policy, encompassing a set of rules and principles on how to recognise and deal with bribery and corruption issues, and how to comply with anti-bribery rules and regulations. This Policy is directly applicable to all companies of the Group.

Group Compliance Function

We have created a Group Compliance Function within our company, in charge of designing and adopting standard operating procedures governing interactions with healthcare professionals and healthcare organisations. The procedures are aligned with those of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA) and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA).

Code of Interdependence

We have adopted the Suppliers Code of Interdependence, expressing our commitment to social and environmental issues, and outlining the principles of sustainability which form the basis of our mission. This Code establishes mandatory requirements (i.e. the rules of conduct all Chiesi people and suppliers must comply with when carrying out their activities) and improvement actions (i.e. actions that Chiesi and its suppliers intend to take to increase the sustainability of their activities).

Code of Conduct

All rules of compliance for the Chiesi community are extensively detailed in the Chiesi code of Conduct, which also spells out our commitment to create value for our patients, but also for their communities and for the planet.

Internal Auditing

Internal Auditing oversees risk assessments and audits for all Chiesi Group affiliates. The Head of Internal Auditing is a member of both the Surveillance Body and the Corporate Compliance Committee, providing them with auditing activities and investigation support as needed.

Periodic meetings are held with the Surveillance Body, Corporate Compliance Committee, Statutory Auditors, and External Auditors to share information, results and insights.

The Board of Directors is briefed annually on audit activities and related results.
